Eyebrow Tattoo Correction

Eyebrow disasters happen. Regardless of the cause, it’s important to acknowledge that sometimes people are less than happy with the microblading procedure that they had been so enamored with on Instagram now that it’s on their face. Due to the lack of reliable information available, it’s hard to find solid answers. So, we’re here to set the record straight about eyebrow tattoo correction.

Why Do People Get Eyebrow Tattoo Correction?

When you think of eyebrow tattoo correction, the first image that springs to mind is wonky, unnaturally shaped brows that are much too dark and prominent. However, the truth is that clients have a variety of reasons for wanting their cosmetic tattoos removed. Of course, some people are unlucky enough to choose a poor technician who botches the job. Thankfully, we don’t see many in this situation.

What we do see a lot is people who were unprepared for the results they got. Some may feel that the brows are too dark, or that the shape doesn’t quite suit their face. Others may find that once their tattoos have faded, they would rather go back to their natural brow than opt for regular retouching. Another big influencing factor is fashion cycles. Eyebrow trends are constantly changing, and a spur of the moment decision to have the current style permanently etched on your face can lead to a lifetime of regret.

How to Fix Tattooed Eyebrows

The first step in the correction process is to establish why the client is unhappy with their eyebrows. In some cases, full removal is unnecessary, and the existing tattoo can be lightened and corrected successfully.

For a full removal, there are several treatment methods. Laser tattoo removal and surgical excision were once the most popular options, however, recently people have been shifting towards more natural therapies that use gentler processes and formulas to draw the ink out of the skin.

Laser removal may be effective for some skin types, but it is a harsh and invasive process that is extremely painful and costly. It works by breaking up the ink particles which are then naturally flushed out of the body by the immune system. The problem with using laser tattoo removal for eyebrow tattoo correction is that the eyebrow hairs can also be permanently lost in the process. Skin with more melanin tends to also be more prone to scarring and unwanted pigmentation issues. It is also a lengthy course of treatment.

Non-laser tattoo removal is a milder alternative that is quicker, safer and more cost-effective. A topical anaesthetic is applied to numb the area before a saline solution is tattooed into the skin. As the area heals and dries out, the pigment lifts and sheds through the scab that forms. It is important to note that in some cases, the section initially becomes darker, but clients should see a noticeable improvement within only a few sessions. Non-laser cosmetic tattoo removal on the other hand, works more efficiently, is far less painful, and there is very little chance of scarring or pigmentation issues if performed properly.
