In general, the eyeliner tattoos lasts from about one to five years and can be enhanced and refreshed by a touch up visit when needed. A lash enhancement or lash fill that presents a more natural-looking eye will have a shorter longevity than a heavier and more obvious eyeliner.
Either way, the results are considered permanent because once tattooed, the color cannot be washed off. However, the color is really “semi-permanent” because fading will inevitably occur over time as the skin continually grows out and sheds. Color retention is also affected by factors such as the shade and thickness of the original color, the person’s age and metabolism, skin type and condition, exposure to UV light, smoking, certain drugs and medications, and skincare products (particularly “anti-aging” and “lightening” ones).
Selecting the right color for the right skin tone will prevent a dark (i.e., “black”) eyeliner from turning that teal blue that’s so often seen on skin of color, particularly with most asian skin tones.
